What to Bring to the Hospital

Following is a helpful checklist of items you might want to bring with you to the hospital.
For Mom
Personal Care items:
toothbrush and tooth paste
hairbrush, accessories, hair dryer or curling iron, hair spray or gel
shampoo, conditioner
soap or body wash
hand and body lotion
makeup
lip balm or chap stick
Clothes:
your favorite nightgown and/or robe (Lakeview Medical Center does provide gowns and robes during your stay as well)
slippers or socks
nursing bra if you will be breastfeeding
loose-fitting clothes to wear home
Miscellaneous items:
portable CD player and favorite CDs
your favorite pillow or blanket
snacks for between meals, like granola bars
a journal
NOTE: Please limit the amount of jewelry or valuables you bring. Lakeview Medical Center does have a safe available for your valuables.
For Dad or labor partner
Personal care items:
toothbrush and tooth paste
hairbrush or comb
razor
Extra clothes if you will be spending the night.
Snacks for during labor like granola bars or crackers. (If labor is occurring during one of our three meal times, Lakeview Medical Center will provide a meal for the labor coach).
A list of telephone numbers for family and friends.
A pre-paid phone card for convenient long-distance calling
or
a cell phone, which can be used on the third floor.
A laptop with wireless internet
adapter if you plan on using the public high-speed
wireless internet access, now offered by Lakeview Medical
Center, to contact family, friends, or work.
And don't forget a camera and lots of film!
For Baby
Clothes including a special outfit for pictures and going home, a blanket, and a hat if the weather is cold and an infant car seat.
(Lakeview Medical Center has a host of supplies available for your newborn while in the hospital including diapers, blankets, wash cloths, and more).
Registration information
Pre-registration is recommended but not required. To pre-register, simply fill out the registration form and bring it to Lakeview Medical Center at your convenience, usually sometime in the seventh month of pregnancy. Click here for a copy of our registration form.
Make sure to bring your insurance card and picture ID.
When you come in to deliver your baby, remember to bring your social security numbers, a list of any medication you may be taking either prescribed or over the counter, and an infant car seat.
Infant Car Seat
You must have a rear-facing car sear
that is securely fastened in the back seat of your vehicle.
Make sure you have a car seat that is appropriate for infants
and meets current safety requirements.
