Having a Baby at LMC
Home Comfort, Hospital Safety
Lakeview Medical Center's maternity services are designed to give flexibility to the birth experience while maintaining a clinically safe environment for mother and infant. Our special birthing rooms combine the comforts of home with the safety of the hospital. Parents can make their own decisions about visitation, birthing options, rooming options, baby care and feeding, and educational programs.
LMC is committed to providing a safe and rewarding childbirth experience. Our nursing and medical staff are highly experienced and compassionate professionals. Come learn why the parents of more than 400 babies annually choose to give birth at LMC.
Starting the Journey
Lakeview Medical Center's Maternity Center delivers more than 400 babies a year. We're excited you have chosen to start your family (or grow your family) in Rice Lake. Our dedicated staff of doctors and nurses are ready to help you through this exciting journey through pregnancy to labor and delivery and beyond.
We've developed educational courses to help prepare parents and even siblings for the birth of a new baby. As part of these classes, parents will have the opportunity to tour the Birth Center and learn more about what to expect when they arrive at Lakeview Medical Center to deliver their baby.
We've also developed a hospital pre-admission form and process for your convenience, to save you time when you arrive at the hospital. In addition, patient safety is critical to us so Lakeview Medical Center provides a secure wrist-band program for parents and baby.
Private, comfortable, spectacular. We know this is a very special time for you and your family. Our Birth Center was designed to help make your stay comfortable and private. All Birth Center rooms are private rooms with a spectacular lake view.
Communication with
friends and family is now easier than ever in Lakeview
Medical Center's Birth Center. LMC understands that during this
extraordinary time, connecting with your friends and family is
very important to you. This is why LMC now offers public
high-speed internet access. Please bring your personal laptop
with wireless internet (WiFi) adapter. In addition, cell phones
are permitted in the Birth Center area.
The nursery at the Birth Center is available to you 24 hours a day during your stay at Lakeview Medical Center. While we encourage and support parents keeping their newborn in their room, we are available to care for your infant while you rest, shower, eat, or visit. Our nursery is just steps from each room.
While in our nursery, your baby will receive special attention to make sure he or she is healthy and ready to go home. Shortly after birth your baby will be bathed and weighed and a record of your baby's footprints will be made. The pediatrician or family practice doctor you have chosen will visit your baby and check him or her from head to toe. A special blood test called a PKU test will be performed and your baby's hearing will be checked.
Learning more about newborn care. In addition to the 24 hour nursery, our nursing staff is also available to help you learn more about caring for your newborn. Helping mother and baby with breastfeeding is just one way our specially trained nursing staff will take care of you. They will also teach you about caring for the umbilical cord/belly button, assist with changing diapers including how to care for a circumcision, and can assist you with personal care.
Paperwork and baby photos. Our staff will also help you fill out a variety of forms for obtaining a birth certificate and social security number for your newborn. In addition, you can have the nursing staff take a photo of your newborn and you can feature the photo online as part of Lakeview Medical Center's Babies Online service through Growing Family WebNursery and lakeviewmedical.com. Friends and family that are unable to visit you in the hospital can catch a glimpse of the new addition online.
Visitors are welcome to join you in your room after delivery and share in the joy of your newborn. We do encourage you to remember that your body needs to recover and your baby needs time to bond with you too, so keeping visits short is recommended.
Having a baby is one of the most exciting
times for you and your family. We look forward to sharing
the special day with you and caring for you and your newborn.
